Wow. How did this happen? My son is 11 months old - which means he will be a whole year old in just another month!!! My tiny baby, who weighed in at just 6 pounds 13 ounces when he was born has turned into a 20 pound almost-toddler! It’s incredible. He’s incredible…and awfully cute.
At 11 months, Michael is climbing on EVERYTHING, standing unsupported while keeping his balance and taking unabashed delight in the world around him. He is a happy, laughing baby who loves silly noises, playing peek-a-boo and wrestling with mommy or daddy. He has started initiating the peek-a-boo games himself by crouching down behind something and popping back up or holding something in front of his face and then dropping it until we notice and start playing along. He can give a high five and has started making the sign for “All Done” when he is finished eating (but only if his daddy isn’t looking!). We are working on learning to wave and clap and of course all of his other baby signs. I think I might have seen him sign “more” yesterday but he hasn’t repeated it so that sighting shall have to remain unconfirmed! [more...]
He is an independant baby, spending up to an hour exploring the house on his own - checking out the toys we have stowed in every room and having even more fun finding things to get into that were not originally intended for him! He makes a beeline for the bathroom everytime the door is left open and splashes in the toilet at every opportunity. (Eeew!) He makes a similar dash for the dog’s area when it is left unsecured and laughs gleefully while splashing the dog’s water everywhere or trying to sneak dog food into his mouth. (Again, eeew!) When done exploring on his own, he calls out for us and then bounces excitedly when we appear and settle on the floor with a book or for some wrestling. His big wrestling move is to hold his arms up in the air and do a full body flop onto us, the floor or the bed. I think his daddy may have taught him that one.
Michael Aaron is such a delight. I am thrilled that I get to be his mommy and I can’t wait to see what the next month brings.
